Customized Solution

Composition

Scintillation crystals can be tailored via chemical composition modification to optimize performance for specific applications. Trace dopants can boost light output (e.g., thallium-doped NaI and CsI) or tune scintillation decay time (e.g., yttrium-doped BaF₂), while multi-element co-doping (e.g., Ca & Ce co-doped LYSO) further adjusts energy response and improves scintillation efficiency.

Surface Finishing

Surface treatments including cutting, lapping, polishing and coating can be applied to crystals to reduce light scattering, boost light collection efficiency, and achieve excellent uniformity and energy resolution.

Reflector

Reflector materials such as BaSO₄, TiO₂, E60, ESR and Teflon can significantly improve the light collection efficiency of individual scintillation crystals, and reduce crosstalk between neighboring pixels when applied to pixelated crystals. For instance, BaSO₄ and ESR are commonly paired with LYSO(Ce) and BGO for PET/SPECT applications, while TiO₂ is widely used with CsI(Tl), CdWO₄ and GOS in industrial CT and X-ray security inspection scenarios.

Package

Scintillation crystals can be fitted with specialized encapsulation to enhance performance and safeguard against environmental factors including humidity, temperature fluctuations, shock and vibration. For instance, hygroscopic materials such as NaI(Tl), LaBr₃(Ce) and CeBr₃ require aluminum housings with optical windows for reliable moisture protection.
