Neodymium Doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Nd:YAG) laser crystal is the most early and mature laser material adopted by R&D, medical, industrial and military customers. It is the  ubiquitous presence for near-infrared solid-state lasers and their frequency-doubler, tripler, and higher order multiplier.

Ytterbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Yb:YAG) is one of the most promising laser-active materials and more suitable for diode-pumping than the traditional Nd-doped systems. Compared with the Nd:YAG crystal, Yb:YAG crystal has a much larger absorption bandwidth to reduce thermal management requirements for diode lasers, a longer upper-laser level lifetime, three to four times lower thermal loading per unit pump power.

Neodymium doped Gadolinium Vanadate(Nd: YVO4) has become popular host crystal for diode pumping among the current commercial laser crystals because of its high gain, low threshold and high absorption coefficients at pumping wavelengths, which result from the excellent fit of the neodymium dopant in the crystal lattice. This is mainly for Nd:YVO4’s absorption and emission features surpassing Nd:YAG Pumped by laser diodes. Nd:YVO4 crystal has been incorporated with high NLO coefficient crystals (LBO, BBO or KTP) to frequency-shift the output from the near infrared to green, blue, or even UV.

Titanium doped Sapphire (Ti:Sapphire) is the most widely used laser crystal for widely tunable and ultrashort pulsed lasers with high gain and high power outputs. The Ti:Sapphire crystals is grown by the method of Temperature Gradient Technique (TGT), the large-sized (Dia.30x 30mm) Ti:Sapphire crystal in high quality free of light scatter, with the dislocation density less than 102cm-2 could be provided. The TGT grown sapphire crystal is characterized by the (0001) oriented growth, high doping level (a490= 4.0cm-1), high gain and laser damage threshold.

Erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Er:YAG) combine various output wavelength with the superior thermal and optical properties of YAG. It’s an excellent laser crystal which lasers at 2.94um highly surface cutting laser. It is a well known material for medical applications.

Cr:YAG
Passive Q-switching is preferred for simplicity of manufacture and operation, low cost and reduced system size and weight. Cr4+:YAG is an excellent crystal for passively Q-switching diode pumped or lamp-pumped Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF, Yb:YAG or other Nd and Yb doped lasers at wavelength from 1.0 to 1.2um.
Nd:Ce:YAG
Diffusion Bonding Crystals (composite laser rods) consist of one laser crystal and one or two undoped material. They’re combined by optical contact method and further bonded under high temperature. Diffusion Bonding Crystals can effectively decrease thermal lensing effect considerably, therefore it’s very suitable for high power laser applications.
